Clearing the Browser Tabs – Herman Cain Friday Edition Posted: 29 Apr 2011 03:10 AM PDT I have to admit, it’s a pretty good day when a Presidential candidate (okay, an almost-candidate) wishes you a Happy Birthday without prompting. I’m not the type to get easily starstruck and I think I’m fairly unusual among political bloggers insofar as I’m not terribly awed by famous politicians. However, Herman Cain isn’t a politician — as he made very clear to a number of us in a conference call last night. He is, however, a good man who has a real shot at being our next President and it was pretty cool of him to take a little time to wish me a happy day. I’ll write up my notes on the call, including a number of quotes I furiously transcribed, some time tomorrow. Like last time, I have a lot to review and I need time to sort everything out. Cain had a lot of good things to say, and a couple things you might have not seen in the scant coverage the MSM has given him. And now, links!

Me at Hot Air: Not Everybody Was Kung-Fu Fighting. Posted: 28 Apr 2011 11:46 AM PDT I’m doing some guest-blogging at Hot Air for a few days while Ed Morrissey is out of the country for a few days and my first post this afternoon involves one of the silliest and most-frustrating stories I’ve seen all week. Apparently, the Brits have just a tiny problem with the concept of free speech, or at least with free performance of a classic disco song. Here’s the opening: Just when you think the world can't get any more crazy, it pulls over to a siding and hooks another car on the Crazy Train. This past Sunday, police in Britain actually arrested a keytarist named Simon Ledger for singing Carl Douglas' "Kung Fu Fighting". No, that’s not a joke. Go on over and read the whole thing. Also, take a look at Ezra Levant’s interview with the keytarist who, I want to note, now has the disgusting tag of “racist” hung around his neck for no good reason at all.
Ezra, no stranger to being falsely tagged as a racist, has his own show on Canada’s only conservative television network. I like what he’s done with it so far. |

Clearly, since you are now reading this post, the answer was, “Of course!” We’re halfway in to the grand experiment and about halfway to the end point I had in my head when I started. I think we can actually do better than I expected, but it will require a little bit of a push to get there. And we can do this, folks. We can prove that right-wing new media can make it without sugar-daddies or tons of annoying advertising. I’d love to show the naysayers — and you know there are naysayers — that a conservative podcast that mixes politics with pop culture can be successful on its own. Thank you to Right Girl, Duane Lester, and Stacy McCain who have spread the word on their blogs and said some very kind things about me in the process. Thanks also to my many friends on Twitter who have spread the word so far. Don’t forget, I’ll have a couple or three audio goodies at the end for everyone who donates. They won’t be extravagant, but they will be unique and fun! You don’t want to miss out, so be sure to Deliver for The Delivery! |
