The Delivery Presents – A Bonus Show with Bonus Guest Thunder Posted: 04 Apr 2011 05:00 AM PDT Episode 86, the second Great Friday Show Experiment, is in the can and I consider it a rousing success. There were as many folks in the live chatroom on Friday as there was the past couple of Tuesdays. The show is beginning to draw a real crowd and I have you, faithful listeners, to thank for it. I see the nice things you say about me and the show on Twitter and I’m grateful. I was pleased to have two very smart, talented guests on the show — my friends Ashley Sewell and Chris Muir. They really brought the thunder and I think you’ll like what they have to say on subjects as varied as the President’s Mystery Libyan Policy and the ways that New Media is pushing Old Media out of the influence game. In between the segments, you’ll find yet another Greg Antsey parody. This one may kill a few chunks of your cerebellum, but at least you’ll know what day comes before Saturday! Hey, what can I say? I resolved early on that The Delivery would be fun and that’s exactly what this episode is. Fun. Fun. Fun. Fun. Oh, and there’s one more bonus. Clearing the Browser Tabs – Full Value Monday Edition Posted: 04 Apr 2011 03:10 AM PDT I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I surely did. I wrote a post for The Greenroom on Saturday and learned Sunday evening that Ed and Allah promoted it to the main page, so be sure to check that out and leave nice comments. Friday’s bonus episode of The Delivery is also up and the posts for it will go live in a couple hours both here and at deliveryshow.com. In the words of Paul Anka, I and my guests gave you full value on your money, so be sure to listen and comment accordingly (language warnings at both Anka links, but it’s funny, so check them out when you’re not at work and away from any young and impressionable eyes). And now, links! Rep. Paul Ryan is resolved to take hold of the Medicare/Medicaid third rail with both hands. I’m firmly behind him and I hope he succeeds because if he does, we’ll fix a problem that will otherwise bury us no matter what cuts Republicans make to the 2012 budget. It seems to me that if the President wants to talk about what is the “height of irresponsibility”, he might mention the Democrats who refused to pass a budget even though they had a whole year to do so. If you are interested in the Constitutional arguments for and against Obamacare, you can find links to a very good discussion here. I admit that I’m biased, but the argument against the law’s Constitutionality was devastating. You have to hand it to the Obama administration. When it gets an idea like electric cars in its head, not even a historic electoral trouncing and the exact opposite of overwhelming consumer demand can change its mind. Yes, Ed, those are some scary-ass charts. I know a few political operatives who need this Seth Godin post writ large on billboards outside their home and office. We can only hope that this four-minute trailer from the new Green Lantern movie is more representative than the first trailer which, I have to say, made me not want to see the movie at all.

Clearing the Browser Tabs – Overload Sunday Edition Posted: 03 Apr 2011 03:10 AM PDT I think perhaps today I will take a break from politics. There have been entirely too many things going on and, quite honestly, I’m having trouble keeping track. Heck, staying up on the administration’s Libya policy is nearly a full-time job all by itself. I think today I’m going to catch up on a couple of my favorite television series and get some other work done I’d been putting off this week. I’m still working on a weekly e-mail newsletter that I hope to roll out soon. So, if you don’t see me much here or on Twitter, I’m okay. I’m just stepping away from the world for a few hours. And now, links! The real key to what’s been happening in Wisconsin is not workers’ “rights” nor the notion that elections have consequences, but money — specifically the millions of dollars public sector unions get every year from workers directly from their paychecks. It’s taking far longer than it should, but our economy is coming around. It would recover much more quickly if it didn’t have to fight so many headwinds, though. NPR has issues, mostly with the truth. So does AOL and its new acquisition, the Huffington Post. Who knew we’d live to see the day that heresy trials would be back in vogue? I love a good movie title sequence and there are far too few of them these days. Thank goodness folks like Ed Driscoll keep a sharp eye out for them. I’ve seen a couple previews for Steven Spielberg’s new series “Falling Skies”. It looks a bit like what V should have been mixed with a bit of Saving Private Ryan. I’m actually looking forward to it though, as you know if you listen to The Delivery, I’m not going to get terribly invested in it for a few episodes.
