Clearing the Browser Tabs – After the Prelude, the Real Fights Begin Monday Edition Posted: 11 Apr 2011 03:10 AM PDT So now that the Republicans cleaned up the budget mess left by the Democrats, and gave them a sharp swat on the bum for good measure, we can turn our attention to the large matters before us. Congress is going to have the settle the matter of the debt limit and, if you thought that the Battle of the Continuing Resolutions was contentious, well, the Battle to Decide Whether We Can Spend More Money is going to make it look like a Methodist church picnic. Meanwhile, Congress is also going to have to pass a budget for fiscal 2012 in the next few months. Paul Ryan has already put his ambitious plan on the table. Tomorrow, we’re told, the President will do the same. Already, his head talking point generator David Plouffe is running up the talking point that taxing the bejeezus out of the “rich” will make everything better. Two things are certain about the President’s plan: 1) no one will accuse him of ending “Medicare as we know it” and 2) it’ll rely heavily on the presence of rainbow-farting unicorns to fix all the fiscal ills of the nation.
