Clearing the Browser Tabs – The Scam that Just Won’t Die Sunday Edition Posted: 19 Jun 2011 03:10 AM PDT The theory of Anthropogenic Global Warming is dead. Science — real science — killed it and we should rejoice its passing. However, those who make their living off of AGW, or whatever new guise they’ve given it, will not let it go easily. Consider the IPCC’s latest report, in which a key assertion was both authored and verified by the same person, an activist for Greenpeace. It is bad enough that the IPCC allowed a lead author to review his own work, but it is far worse that they allowed an AGW activist who makes a considerable amount of money from global warming panic within ten miles of a purportedly scientific document. This, by the way, is not the first time the IPCC has passed off a piece of unverified propaganda as scientific fact in one of its reports. Meanwhile, Fox News has a story of how the University of Colorado’s Sea Level Research Group decided, pretty much on a whim, to adjust its official seal level numbers so that there would be a small but discernible rise in its historical data where no actual rise occurred. The logic behind the adjustment baffles me, since it would create a seal level rise that simply does not exist. However, it does advance the notion that if we do not give over control of our lives to the Cult of Global Warming so they can apply their mighty brains to saving us all, we will surely die. That, of course, means they’ll become even more rich and more powerful, which is pretty much the result they’re after. And now, links!

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Doesn’t Own This Economy, and We Shouldn’t Let Her Claim It. Posted: 18 Jun 2011 01:48 PM PDT
However, there was something else in DWS’s statement that caught my eye and, to my knowledge, no one has picked up on it. Let me give you more of her statement. See if you notice what I did.
If you’re interested in handing out awards for gall, there’s your first nominee right there. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz didn’t say that Democrats owned the whole economy. She said Democrats owned the good parts of the economy — the alleged turnaround. There is no chance in the world she’d claim the still-plunging housing market, high unemployment, low wages, dropping dollar value, or any of the other signs that our economy is far from turned around. What she’s set up is a circumstance under which any good sign in the economy, no matter how faint or temporary, belongs to her party and all the rest belongs to the bogeyman Bush and the Republicans. That, folks, is dishonest and we shouldn’t let her get away with it. While plenty of folks on the right are out there saying “Darned right you own this woeful economy”, they’re missing the bigger point. As the economy recovers, which it surely will, Democrats will continue to claim it and the right will have no effective comeback because they already ceded the issue. The Democrats do not own this economy. They have, in fact, disavowed any ownership of this economy for years with their continuing ignorance of how a private economy works. They have instead spent their time fattening their own campaign chests with multi-billion dollar payoffs to favored contributors, pumped up their personal wealth, and increased their personal political power by making more people dependents on the crumbs they’re thrown from the public table. We conservatives shouldn’t hand this economy over to the Democrats. They had it for far too long and have made a hash of it. They do not own this economy. They have simply used it like a 60s British rock group would use a hotel room and when they’re done with it, all we’ll be left with is a ruin. It’s time we disabused Debbie Wasserman-Schultz of the notion that she and her merry band of totalitarian wanna-bes own any part of us.
