The Delivery Presents – So Many Things to Do and So Many Polls to Take! Posted: 25 Oct 2011 05:20 AM PDT Okay, I shoved a lot of good stuff into Episode 117. I can’t even begin to recap it all, but I’ll give you a taste. I spent pretty much the whole first half talking about the newest developments around Operation Fast and Furious including a possible connection between one of the gangs our government armed and a recent plot to blow up several embassies in the United States. What time I had left I devoted to the GOP’s ridiculous insistence that it parade its candidates in front of a panel of hostile debate moderators. If you can think of a good reason they should continue to do that, please let me know. I’m at a complete loss. In the second half, I begged without shame for your help. I has been given reason to consider a couple changes to how we do things at The Delivery and I want your input. I’ve attached a couple polls so that you can vote your preference more easily. The discussion takes about ten minutes and I’d like you to vote after you’ve heard what I’m considering and why. There’s also a few minutes on Congress, baseball, and the abuse of power. If your “Oh, I give up” meter is a bit low, this might perk it up just a bit. And last but far from least, I co-hosted last week’s episode of Right this Way. It is a spicier show where cussing and sexy talk is allowed, so let that inform your listening decision. Even with the PG-13 rating (that occasionally verges into “R” territory), it’s a very good show and I think you’ll like it. That’s it until later this week. Listen, vote, and enjoy! Clearing the Browser Tabs – Just Lots and Lots of Links Tuesday Edition Posted: 25 Oct 2011 03:10 AM PDT Okay, I have nothing today. I’ve been doing way too much running around and have more irons in the fire than I prefer right now, which has made my news consumption less than blog-friendly. That said, I do have a ton of very meaty links for you today that should keep you in good reading material for at least a day, if not longer. Be sure not to miss The Delivery’s live show tonight at 9:30 PM ET. Be sure to come by later for a show post from last week’s show that not only includes some bonus Right this Way action but also has a poll in which you can participate! And now, links! How is it that the New York Times let someone openly hostile to the Tea Parties write in such glowing terms about Occupy Whatever , as if she has even the faintest glimmer of objectivity? On the other hand, I have no idea how this editorial, which unashamedly lays the blame for the coarsening of our public discourse at the feet of the Democratic Party, got past the Times’ editors (via memeorandum). While I’m showing off my amazing skill as being baffled, let me also wonder that no one has punched Bill Maher clean into last month. On the gripping hand, I am not at all surprised that Democratic Representative Jim Moran is a very poorly-disguised totalitarian. Perhaps someone should run this post at Maggie’s Notebook to their nearest Occupy Whatever protest. I’m sure they’ll quickly focus their ire on the Democrats who shoved our government into a position where it did for sub-prime mortgages what Huggy Bear did for hookers. When the fantasists at Think Progress make a chart, you should always assume its cooked somehow. My friend John Brodigan, who recently lost his father to cancer, wrote a funny and touching post about the lessons he learned (spicy language alert). I’ve never been a particularly big fan of Tom Waits, but I really enjoyed this interview/profile at The Guardian. If you liked Oregon Trail, you’ll love Organ Trail. My first expedition made it to Safe Haven fully intact (take *that* Donner Party)!
