Clearing the Browser Tabs – #OccupyDeceptionAndDanceMoves Monday Edition

Posted: 10 Oct 2011 03:10 AM PDT

I just can’t stop posting about the Occupy Wherever protests. Whenever I think they’ve reached the heights of ridiculousness or hypocrisy, they grab a stepladder and go up a few more feet. They’re throwing jazz hands and creepy chanting in New York. In Georgia, they shut down former civil rights leader and Democratic lion Rep. John Lewis. The anti-Semitism that’s never deeply buried in the progressive movement has popped to the surface and the leaders of the “movement”, unsurprisingly, are not what the MSM told us they were.

But, hey, they say they’re the 99 percent, so everything is good. Right?

And now, links!

The Ratings Are In. September isn’t Great, But 2011 Isn’t Over Yet!

Posted: 09 Oct 2011 04:07 PM PDT

Okay, honesty time. September was not a good ratings month for The Delivery. The show took a big hit, with only 10,648 downloads, an average of 2,662 a week. By any measure, that’s bad.

I don’t have a good idea why the numbers dropped to where they were back in February. I’ve not done anything different with the show and I’ve promoted it the same way I always have: with posts here and at The Sundries Shack and through my Twitter feed. I’ll have to keep an eye on next month’s numbers before I decide whether this month is a sign of a real problem or just a fluke.

Here are the charts.

Right now, I’m leaning toward “fluke”. I have noticed that my tweets about the show haven’t gotten nearly as much re-tweet action as they have the past couple of months. That will pick back up. I’ve also gone guest-free for most of the month, which may have had an impact. If that’s the case, well, I’ll just have to pick up my game. I really don’t want The Delivery to be the kind of podcast that gets listeners because of its guests. While I enjoy having good folks on with whom I enjoy a good conversation, the show is mine and (as conceited as this may sound) if the show only does well because of my guests, I might as well hang it up.

I don’t believe The Delivery is good because of my guests. To be sure, they help a great deal and I’m thankful for everyone who has come on the show (and will come on in the future). But they’re not what The Delivery is all about. I believe the show is good because I’m a pretty darned good broadcaster and because I dump a lot of love and effort into the show.

Is that ego? Yes, probably a bit. But every good broadcaster has a healthy bit of ego and if it’s good enough for Rush and Mark Levin, well, who am I to say I shouldn’t use it once in a while? It’s time to pull up the Big Boy Pants and see if I (and all of you who listen every week!) can turn October into a Month of Crazy-Good Ratings. I’d like to see 25,000 downloads. Let’s see what we can do to get there.
