Clearing the Browser Tabs – Watching Public Unions Die Sunday Edition Posted: 20 Feb 2011 03:10 AM PST Saturday, the Tea Parties showed up in Wisconsin to represent the heretofore silent majority in that state’s budget battle — the taxpayers who have to foot the bill for all the expensive perks the teachers’ unions want to keep. Troglopundit, a native of the state, was there and snapped a few photos which show that the good guys are the ones with senses if humor. The truly troubling news from today is that several medical doctors showed up to hand out excuse notes for the teachers to take back to school with them, when they decide to return. See, teachers aren’t allowed to strike in Wisconsin, and once the authorities find out who walked away from work without legitimate cause, the hammer will fall. So these doctors decided to show their approval for lying and theft by engaging in a little medical fraud themselves. You’ll like what you hear, I think. What on Earth would make the President think that a judge would order a state to comply with a law that he had just ruled entirely unconstitutional? The nanny state ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. I don’t at all agree with this Strictly Pop article on why hockey isn’t more popular. Fighting isn’t the issue. Television coverage is. There is a vast difference in potential audience for a game aired on ESPN as opposed to one aired on Versus. However, there’s no doubt the sport is rapidly growing in popularity as overall revenues are up and sponsorship revenues have grown 85 percent in the past four years. I spent last night and this morning on a hard deadline for Smart Girl Nation (you are reading, yes?) and had to lay the blog off to the side. But I am done, at long last, which means that I can finally get today’s CtBT post to you. And now, links! Government-run health care means the government’s desires always trump yours, as these Canadian parents have learned, to their horror. We should all take its message to heart. I fully endorse this grassroots effort to get the Firefly franchise in the hands of someone who loves it and will do right by it.
