Clearing the Browser Tabs – If You’re Snowed In Wednesday Edition

Posted: 02 Feb 2011 03:10 AM PST

Yep, the show last night was as good as I thought it would be. If you weren’t in the chatroom for the live show, you missed some good pre-segment talk from Jim and Peter (who were both very good, by the way). I actually wish we had been recording all of that. It would have made for a great little teaser clip. The show should hit the web sometime around mid-day and on iTunes a little bit later. So, if you’re one of those millions snowed in by the massive blizzard that hit about half the country last night, you have something to entertain you!

And now, links.

  • This video ought to fill you with at least a little righteous anger. Planned Parenthood, to their small amount of credit, fired the supervisor involved. Then again, what other reaction should they have had?
  • I feel bad for Paul Mirengoff. No one should have to choose between free speech exercised outside the workplace and their job.
  • Dana Milbank has gone beyond ridicule with this post, wherein he celebrates his first day of not talking about Sarah Palin by talking about how he’s not talking about Sarah Palin.
  • My Geek of the Week award goes to Ed Driscoll. Also, I like the hyphen in “e-mail”!
  • Here is an interesting post by Matthew Kiessling about how the current NFL labor negotiations illustrate the flaws of the modern labor union. These days, unions rarely represent the largest number of their members on the lower end of the pay scale very well. When your pay is negotiated by an unconcerned third party and is locked in for a period of time by that negotiation, you’re rarely going to get a good deal.
  • How about some beautiful photos of Saturn’s moons from the Cassini spacecraft?
  • Eric Whitacre continues to write some of the most interesting and beautiful choral music I’ve ever heard. His latest, “The City and The Sea” is about to go to print. Take a listen and tell me what you think.
