Clearing the Browser Tabs – The Delivery Take Two Tuesday Edition Posted: 23 Aug 2011 03:10 AM PDT I’m still having the same intermittent internet problems as I’ve has for over a week now. Verizon has apparently decided that my patience and good will has not earned me an early service call thus far, so I continue to wait for them to repair the problem they caused. At least the striking workers, at the direction of their greedy union bosses, are headed back to work.They don’t have a contract, but as it happens, the unions decided they should go back and work the day before they had to pay out about $10 million in strike pay. Funny how that works, isn’t it? With that, the situation for The Delivery tonight will be pretty much the same as it was last night. I’ll give it a try, but don’t be surprised if I have to call the live part of the show early because of connection problems. I hope to get a full hour-long show in tonight, but I’m still dependent on the good graces of the labor unions that represent Verizon’s workers. Keep an eye on my Twitter feed as we get closer to the 9:30 PM Eastern show time. If things change, that’s where you’ll get the best information. Yes, I know. I’m hosed. I pretty much knew that two Sundays ago when I found the cause of the problem. When unions go on strike, they show the customer just how much they don’t matter to the workers. And now, links! Muammar Gaddafi has finally fallen, after President Obama involved us in a war that wasn’t a war where we led the effort from behind to depose a tyrant or not, depending on which bureaucrat you asked. One day, someone will write a book about this…whatever it was…and that’ll be when the country will finally learn what the President’s “war” plan really was, because he sure as heck didn’t tell Congress about it. It looks as if the Fairness Doctrine is finally off the books. It only took the government 24 years to dispose of the carcass after Ronald Reagan killed it. The new rule in political discourse is that Barack Obama is the only one allowed to question anyone’s patriotism. Remember when the President promised the brand-new Government Motors would honor all of General Motors warranties? Yeah, that’s not working out so well. I’m actually surprised that more museums and art galleries haven’t made better use of social media. I can think of a dozen different ways a museum could make exhibits more accessible to people who don’t usually go to museums with just an average web site and Twitter. If you are as well, you might like this video analysis of the end of the movie. I admit, now that I’ve seen the videos, I want to go back and watch the movie again. If you’ve never played the classic board game Kill Doctor Lucky, you’re in, well, luck. James Ernest, the game’s creator, has made it free to download on his web site, complete with a second gameboard if you tire of using the original. Some assembly is required, but it’ll be worth you effort and you won’t need much more than a good black and white printer and some cardstock.
