Clearing the Browser Tabs – Abortion Around the World Thursday Edition Posted: 26 May 2011 09:03 AM PDT I am by no means an abortion crusader. I oppose abortion and very much want as many states as possible to outlaw it (which means also that I want the voters of each state to decide the matter themselves). I think we should get behind adoptions as much as humanly possible and ease back off the throttle of sexuality in our society in general. But that’s me. Your mileage, as they say on the internet, may vary. Regardless of where you are on the issue, I don’t think you’ll disagree greatly that in no case should we accept when 20,000 abortions a year in any country are “repeats” or when more than 4 million babies have been killed in utero in just one country because of their gender. That is no one’s reasonable expectation of what legal abortions ought to look like and I’m sure we can find a shared sense of disgust that such a situation exists. And now, links!

The Delivery Presents – Neither Bias Nor Success Are Accidents Posted: 25 May 2011 01:07 PM PDT
I mention that because being a successful broadcaster has been a dream of mine since I was young. Now, you might not think that a weekly podcast that’s not heard by as many people a month as attend one National Hockey League game is the definition of success, but it is. See, 95 weeks ago this podcast didn’t exist and now it’s a regular fixture of many peoples’ lives — whether they listen to it here, download it from iTunes, or join the live show on Tuesday nights. There are plenty of podcasts that have fallen by the wayside since I started The Delivery, and we’ll see a few more pull into the garage before I’m done here, too. So, yeah, this is success. SMP Mike and I built a solid, entertaining, growing podcast from essentially nothing. We promote it with little else but Twitter, our own websites, and the incredible word-of-mouth power of all of you who listen and love the show and look where it is now. But — there’s always a “but”, isn’t there? –it’s far from the only success SMP Mike and I will see here. The Delivery will get bigger. There will be more. The second half of the show deals a bit with the dreams I have for the show and for my involvement in new media overall and how we all ought to spend a little part of every day working on fulfilling our dreams. It’s pure inspirational candy and don’t we all need a piece of that once in a while? I spent the first half of the show talking about media bias and how the right has been sorely let down by Tucker Carlson and The Daily Caller. I think the two halves of this show go very well together. You’ll have to listen to find out how, though. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
