Clearing the Browser Tabs – Gaia Hates Republicans Sunday Edition

This week, the powerful progressive website Think Progress floated the notion that the hundreds killed by tornadoes in the Southeast deserved it because they elected members of Congress who reject the left’s definition of global warming. So far as I can tell, only conservatives have pushed back against the noxious post (more here and here). Think Progress is overseen by frequent White House adviser and Democrat golden boy John Podesta, so you shouldn’t expect anyone on the left to get particularly exorcised about the post nor would I imagine the MSM will pick it up as they would if, say, a popular minister were to say that a natural disaster was punishment from God.

But it amounts to the same thing, really. The belief that tornadoes are tied to global warming is every bit as much based on faith as any religious belief. Actually, it’s worse than a religious belief because that particular piece of global warming doctrine is categorically false.

I suspect, though, that Think Progress wasn’t acting out of faith, though, so much as it was working from the Big Book of Progressive Politics. Religious zealots I can forgive. Politicals cynics not so much.

And now, links!

  • You know what’ll help bring gas prices down? A form letter with links to show you where to get cheaper gas!
  • You’d think at some point, the MSM would get a little bit tired of the abuse it takes from the White House, or at least it wouldn’t act quite so much like a fawning teenager backstage at a Justin Bieber concert. There was a time when the media would rise as one in fury if a President tried to exile one of their own (or shove one of their own into a closet).
  • You might have heard that Paul Ryan went back to Wisconsin and held a few town halls during which he explained his budget plan. You might have also heard that he was met at those meetings by raucous and hostile audiences and that he was forced to flee at least one of them with a police escort. Only one of those things is true. Don’t worry, though. The MSM will tell you the truth, just as soon as they finish their battle with the President over his treatment of White House pool reporters.
  • I agree with Moe Lane on the baffling price structure for Kindle books. There is no reason an e-book should cost as much as, if not more than, a paper copy of a book. Publishing companies are cutting their own throats right now for no very good reason at all.
  • Michelle Malkin’s missing cousin, Marizela Perez, is 19 years old today. The search for her continues, so please keep spreading the word. The family has planned a benefit concert on May 8 in Seattle, so if you’re looking for some good entertainment and you live up there (or know someone who does), do hit Michelle’s post and take a look at the video the family made about it.
