Clearing the Browser Tabs – Delivery Tuesday Edition Posted: 29 Mar 2011 03:10 AM PDT I spent a good chunk of last night working on a couple topic for tonight’s show to give you the maximum amount of listening enjoyment. I just might have a guest tonight, but I won’t make any promises at this point (sometimes these things don’t come together until the last minute, almost literally!). Either way, the excitement begins just a bit before 9:30 PM Eastern at the UStream feed with a little music and pre-show warm up. If you can’t make the live show, please don’t miss the podcast which follows a day or so after (depending on how quickly iTunes feels like processing the feed). And now, links! Peter Robinson thinks we’re headed for a government shutdown and gives a few reasons why. I can’t find reasons to disagree. Actually, I hope the GOP takes the shutdown and rams it right down the throats of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. Speaking of GOP electoral tactics, I really have no idea why they don’t make local stories like this into national indictments on the progressive nanny state. Matthew Continetti wrote a fantastic profile of the much-maligned Koch Brothers that gives a far more in-depth look at the left’s favorite new bogeymen than you’ll ever get from the MSM. This round up of stories from Reason Magazine also gives a pretty good precis on the brothers and the concerted effort to turn them into what George Soros really is. The Barefoot Contessa has a teeny tiny PR problem. The Landmark Report, edited by my friend Andrew Lawton, profiled Herman Cain on its first day of full operation. It’s a good, broad-strokes look at a guy I’m convinced will shake up the 2012 Presidential campaign more than mostsuspect right now. Old Line Elephant has a new Waste of the Week and asks why the State of Maryland needs to spend $100,000 on a building for a private charity. I have said this before, but it bears repeating: do not mess with a Gurkha. Mary Katharine Ham is back to making videos, this time for The Daily Caller. I admit, I think she’s even better at making videos than she is as a television pundit or a writer, and she’s pretty good at those. How about a behind the scenes look at Hawaii’s Keck Telescope?

The Most Impressive Tsunami Video I’ve Ever Seen (Or, How the Sea Ate a Town in 6 Minutes) Posted: 28 Mar 2011 12:54 PM PDT This is, hands down, the most breathtaking video of the tsunami in Japan I’ve seen. When you watch it, pay attention to two things: 1) the geography of the area at the beginning of the video and how the implacable force of the sea changes it in less than 6 minutes, and 2) the utter calmness of the person filming the video who manages not to panic as the sea swells up around him (her?) on every side and the entire village behind him (her?) disappears. This video is very impressive as well, in a far more quiet and humbling fashion. If you ever wondered what liquefaction looks like, here you go.
