Clearing the Browser Tabs – Rally to Dan Friday Edition

Posted: 18 Mar 2011 03:10 AM PDT

When Dan Collins says he is unworthy of our assistance, do not listen to him. In fact, I recommend you scoff gently at him then hit his tip jar so hard it rings like the moon when the lunar lander plonked down on it in 1969.

Let me tell you a little something about Dan. He is, bar none, one of the finest conservative writers on the web and perhaps the least given to self-promotion. He does not do fundraising drives. He does not blow his own horn. He rarely asks for help. So when he says he’s in a hard way, he’s in a hard way.

Times are tough, I know. Lots of folks need help these days and you generous folk can feel stretched pretty thin pretty quickly. But Dan could use whatever help we can get to him. Drop him a few bucks or buy his book. Every fiver helps.

Also, don’t forget the bonus episode of The Delivery tonight at 8 PM Eastern. Kurt Schlichter and I are raring to go and you’ll want to be there when the fun goes down.

And now, links!

Control Yourselves! Al Gore Is Writing Another Book.

Posted: 17 Mar 2011 01:29 PM PDT

Oh joy and rapture, Al Gore is writing another book! I know, I know. The very idea of 300 or so pages from such a scintillating wordsmith as Gore is enough to stir the soul to heights of heretofore unknown bliss, but I have better than an idea. I have a summary of the book from the author himself!

Please, sit down before you read this, lest your knees buckle in reflexive ecstasy and you do yourself a grievous injury.

With this new work, I hope to help start a conversation about the large-scale drivers of change that are defining and shaping our future — from the rapid development and integration of radically new technologies to the planet-changing impact of the climate crisis, to poverty, globalization, and the democratization of knowledge accompanying the emergence of a ubiquitous Internet linking ever more intelligent devices.

Hang on. I need a cigarette. Let me pass this over to Andrew Malcolm while I compose myself.

The book was acquired by a new Random House editor, noted talk-show guest Jon Meacham, who recently led the Newsweek print edition into oblivion.

Wait, is that the very same Jon Meacham who put Gore on the cover of his magazine as “The Thinking Man’s Thinking Man” and unilaterally declared him the winner of the 2000 election? Huh. Seems someone already had a crush on our Global Warming HIgh Priest, doesn’t it?
