Clearing the Browser Tabs — Winter Classic Saturday Edition Posted: 01 Jan 2011 03:10 AM PST If you follow me on Twitter or listen to The Delivery, you know I’m a hockey fan. One of the events I’ve come to enjoy during the season is the the NHL Winter Classic, where two teams meet outdoors in the cold surrounded by tens of thousands of hockey-heads. This year’s game (hyped very well by HBO’s “24/7 Penguins/Capitals” miniseries) is between My Beloved Washington Capitals and the hated rival Pittsburgh Penguins. The teams (and the teams fans) hold no great love for each other and nearly every meeting between the two teams produces moments like this from their first game about a week ago. Because of the weather, the league has moved the game to 8 PM, which puts it right in the middle of prime time, where it will compete against a bunch of useless college football bowl games. Seriously, watch the game. I’m betting, if you like sports even a little, you’ll enjoy what you see. To whet your interest, here are ten reasons to love the Winter Classic. And now, links!

Clearing the Browser Tabs – Auld Lang Syne Friday Edition Posted: 31 Dec 2010 03:10 AM PST One of my favorite songs is “Auld Lang Syne”, and the work on which it is based also happens to be one of my favorite poems. So far as I know, I’ve no Scottish blood in me, but when I read Burns, I wish I did. I’d be a bad blogger if I didn’t give you a video to watch as well. There are plenty of versions of “Auld Lang Syne” available, but this one, I think, is my favorite. It was taped on the occasion of the opening of the Scottish Parliament in 2004 and I get goosebumps every time I watch it. This, also, is worthy of goosebumps. Here’s to a good 2010 and an even better 2011.
