Clearing the Browser Tabs – Prayerful Sunday Edition Posted: 09 Jan 2011 03:10 AM PST Yesterday, a very sick man named Jared Loughner walked up to Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords as she hosted a meet and greet in the parking lot of a Safeway store in Tucson, AZ, pulled out a gun and sprayed bullets at her and the crowd around her. When he was done, six people were either dead or dying and another twelve people, at least, were injured. Rep. Giffords, a noted Blue Dog, was part of the latter group and is expected to survive the assassination attempt. Among Loughner’s murder victims were a 9-year old girl, a local judge, and a 30-year old staffer who was engaged to be married. It took less than a half-hour after news of the shooting first hit Twitter for the progressive left to lay the mass shooting at the feet of the Tea Parties and Sarah Palin. Their information was wrong, their reasoning specious, and their speech so packed with vitriol that it could have eaten a gaping hole in the internet. It is crystal clear that Loughner was neither a product of the political right or the left and the attempt to cram him into a Tea Party-shaped hole of blame is shameful and those who attempted to slander millions of good Americans should be shunned without pity. For my part, I will say a couple extra prayers for Rep. Giffords and the others injured by Loughner’s insane rampage today. I will also ask the Almighty to hold the families of the murdered especially close for the next few days and give them as much of his grace and peace as they need. So should we all, I’d say. (Several links via memeorandum) And now, links.
