Clearing the Browser Tabs – Finally Friday Edition

Posted: 21 Jan 2011 03:10 AM PST

Am I the only one for whom the week has seemingly crept by? I’ve spent the past couple days wondering if I slipped into some alternate time-stream wherein one day for me passed like five days for the rest of the world. But all is well today. It is Friday; the weekend beckons with cake, pie, and ice cream; and I, my friends, have the day off today. So expect a bit more in the way of blog posts and a bit less in the way of grumpiness on Twitter.

You do follow me on Twitter, don’t you?

And now, links!

  • How, I wonder, is it not racist for Arianna Huffington to launch a Huffington Post for black people? (via mediagazer)
  • Ed Driscoll says that NASA’s pet global warming evangelist James Hansen has failed the George Schultz test. I think he’s committed a firing offense. Then again, I think he’s committed several firing offenses, yet he continues his noxious work on our dime, so what do I know?
  • I think I may just make a rule at The Shack that any writer who calls Joe Scarborough an idiot gets an automatic link. The latest round of Scarborough-pummeling comes from Clyde Middleton and Stacy McCain. Click for the delicious snark, but keep reading for some solid analysis about how bashing the right is a sure ticket to media stardom.
  • J.J. Abrams is planning a new television show that, at first blush, could be more convoluted than Lost. I’m already leery. Abrams didn’t exactly craft a decent plot to wrap around his monster-o-rama Cloverfield, which should have been a pretty straightforward job for a guy of his ability. The potential for the new show to devolve into a slurry of incomprehensible or dangling plot elements is high.
