Clearing the Browser Tabs – The Left’s Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week Sunday Edition Posted: 18 Sep 2011 03:10 AM PDT If you have a progressive friend who seems a bit snippy today, cut them a little slack. They’re probably had a rough week. First, the President’s campaign rolled out its very own Report Your Neighbors and Friends to the Nice Authority Figures web site complete with its very own #AttackWatch hashtag that, thanks to conservatives on Twitter (including yours truly, who was one of the first, if not the first to lead the pie-throwing efforts), became a national laughing stock. Then, the national Day of Rage turned out to be a half-baked tantrum in front of mostly-empty office buildings that also had its own #usdor hashtag, which almost immediately filled with conservatives mocking the petulant leftists who took up their iPhones in protest of evil corporations. I suppose I should feel sorry for the mainstream left right now. It seems like their ideology peaked about a year ago and has since then plummeted in credibility and seriousness like Wile E. Coyote with an armload of Acme anvil. It’s hard to figure out just when the power dive into ridiculousness started, but it is happening and I, for one, couldn’t be happier to see it. May progressivism, which has caused so much misery around the world, die quickly and never rise again. And now, links! No, progressives, Social Security is not like a 401K either. It’s not a real retirement fund. It’s not voluntary. It’s not a good investment. It’s not a guarantee or a promise or a saddlebag of gold carried by celestial unicorns. It’s a scam that works only because the full coercive force of the Federal government has been bent to ensure its survival and even that won’t be enough to prevent its calamitous end in the very near future. Of course the President is like Jesus! Who else would delivery what amounted to a “If ye love me, keep my commandments” speech. Unlike Jesus, though, Barack Obama has the complete friendship of today’s scribes and Pharisees. Duane Lester wrote an interesting post for which he interviewed several black Republican leaders and activists and asked them how the GOP should go about courting the black vote. It’s a good piece that ought to get a ton of hits. So, it’s not so much a Potemkin village they want for America, but a Potemkin world? Here’s another reason I like Alexander Ovechkin: he’s a world-class athlete and team captain who can take not one but two pies in the face and keep his sense of humor. MUFON, the national UFO investigative network, has had a huge surge in UFO sightings over the past six weeks. Is it a fluke or are our Alien Overlords ready to make their appearance?
