Clearing the Browser Tabs – What is the Opposite of Beclowned Thursday Edition Posted: 01 Sep 2011 03:10 AM PDT I was away from the computer and most other sources of news for most of the day yesterday, but I did hear a little bit about the stunt the President tried to pull on John Boehner. Apparently, Barack Obama and his Inner Circle of Wormtongue Clones believe that every Speaker of the House is as dumb as a cauliflower. I can’t judge them too harshly. After all, they’re mostly political novices whose experience with Speakers is limited to Nancy Pelosi, who beclowned herself so often in the position that by the end of her tenure, the Speaker’s Gavel made a cheery squeaking sound when she banged it on the desk. I’m brought back to a question I’ve asked quite a few times lately: what proof do we have that our President is as smart as the MSM told us all through the 2008 campaign he was? And now, links! - I’m not entirely sold on Health Care Compacts, but I do understand the thinking behind them. If nothing else, they put us one very large step closer to taking our health care decisions away from government bureaucrats.
- Republican Presidential candidate Jon Huntsman put one heck of an economic reform plan on the table yesterday. Jim Pethokoukis interviewed him not long before he released the plan and he had a few interesting things to say. Now, if only Jon Huntsman wasn’t Jon Huntsman…
- What’s the opposite of King Midas — King Minus?
- In mainstream Democrat circles, the word “racist” can mean anything, thus it means nothing. We are now safe to ignore the accusation as the mindless bloviation of a shallow-thinking political hack, which is not exactly a good thing.
- I’m almost positive this study that links abortion to dramatically-increased mental health problems in women is going to face the white-hot anger of the pro-abortion lobby. Perhaps that’s for the best, though. If the study holds up to that much intense scrutiny, then we could move one very large stop closer to a real debate over the personhood of the unborn. This story may help as well.
- Don’t call it a depression. Call it Hobo-palooza!
- If you have even a drop of music geek blood in you, this video of Peter Gabriel using the most advanced musical equipment money can buy to essentially (according to Ed Driscoll) invent the entire genre of 80s music should fascinate you.
- My dear God in Heaven, what is wrong with George Lucas??
