Clearing the Browser Tabs – Debt Dancing Saturday Edition Posted: 16 Jul 2011 03:10 AM PDT I hate to keep coming back to the debt ceiling negotiations — and let’s just call them that rather than “the days when Republicans work on real plans with real numbers and the President holds press conferences to call them names and accuse them of wanting to starve old people” because it’s shorter — but we’ve seen perhaps the clearest contrast between left and right that we’re likely to see for a long while. I know this is going to sound like hyperbole, and I wouldn’t write it except that the headlines from this week all serve as proof of its veracity, but the left has no interest in the future health of the United States of America. I’d love to say that President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and the rest of the Democratic Wrecking Crew are bumbling stooges, but I’d be hard-pressed to plausibly explain how they could do so much damage accidentally. Our President can’t make a clear case for jacking up taxes left and right without misrepresenting a poll that anyone can read for themselves. Meanwhile, the Republicans have a plan on the table. Well, actually, it’s another plan, since they’ve come up with at least two others by my count. Will the Democrats take this deal or will they stop anyone from grabbing the wheel of the ship of state before we plow into the default iceberg? And now, links! Steven Crowder is one of the funniest men alive, and he does a mean Keith Olbermann impression. You will enjoy the cameos by Andrew Breitbart and Michelle “The Hammer” Malkin. When the public sector union hammer falls, it won’t be just the big cities that get crushed. A capitalist system where failure is impossible isn’t capitalism at all. It’s beginning to look a lot like Carter, everywhere you go! Remember when the President promised that if we elected him, he’d do the hard work of reforming Medicare? Well, he’s forgotten all that but Ace hasn’t. It’s a shame that anyone would catch heat for their political beliefs, especially in the forward-thinking science fiction creative community. Easter Island, there and here. Now is the time in the hockey season when Caps fans begin to dream really big dreams. I had hoped that Hollywood wouldn’t botch the new Winnie the Pooh movie. From the looks of this review, they got it just right. Thank goodness. If Disney had screwed up Winnie, I would have written them off forever. I’m not kidding about that even a little. It’s too bad Phil Collins didn’t take a little career advice from my brother Robbie.
